My Story

6 years ago In November 2016 something happened that changed my life completely. I suffered a serious stroke at the age of 47.  Going from healthy, and perfectly mobile to not being able to walk for 6 months and leaving me even with limited mobility and balance, was a  complete shock.  I started to feel I had no one really to talk to or vent my many feelings and frustrations.

 I have an amazing family and friends I could have confided in them, and I did when I had to, but although I knew they were always there for me, for them life went on,  and I didn't want to burden them with my  problems.(they had enough on their plates with work as well as looking after me!)

 I did not want to talk to other people who had gone through a similar experience, or a counsellor for hours on end, as I just felt I had to behave in the way they wanted me to.

Jump to  the present  and I wish there had been someone I could talk to ,completely impartial,  with no agenda  to help me recover ,or  judge  me regarding my mental health, or  my abilities ..as it might have aided my recovery.

Perhaps I  might not have been ill in the first place if I had an outlet to vent, offload my  work and life stresses and frustrations,  and just  taken some time to talk to  someone who would   listen!

Therfore as someone who has lived through a lifetime of experiences, both positive and challenging, my insights and advice could be invaluable to others. Whether it’s navigating unexpected health issues, work frustrations, understanding oneself better, or sharing theme park tips

These are some areas I possess  experience  in;

  • Living with the repercussions of a sudden unexpected stroke a which happened at the age 47 (I am now 55).
  • I ahave ADHD. Having faced and accepted this, I’ve learned to adapt and accommodate necessary changes., and here to offer support and guidance to others who find themselves in similar situations.
  • Over 30 years of experience as a public sector manager, I’ve navigated the intricacies of office politics and organizational restructures.
  • I am a mum, and wife.
  • a frequent visitor to Disney & Universal Studios in Florida through many life’s milestones, (23 times to be precise! ) So, I have a lot of experience to share regarding ‘insights, tips and can offer some tailored advice based on what people want to do

While I’m not a professional counsellor, I’m here to listen and share insights based on my life experiences.

However  If you’re seeking specialised help, I encourage reaching out to your doctor or contacting the Samaritans at 116 123.
